Eligibility

• JOY Literacy Foundation will award scholarships to literacy teachers-in-training who are at least college juniors. Applications should be submitted during the spring semester to be considered for the following academic year.

Scholarship Use

• The scholarship is exclusively for qualified tuition.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a complete packet of the following:

1. Completed application form (Click on "Download Application" at upper right corner on this page).
2. Essay of 500 words or fewer, describing yourself and your career goals.
3. Two letters of recommendation from professors in your major field.
4. College transcript.

Phone Interview

• After the committee’s review of the submitted application documents, applicants advancing will be invited for a ten-minute phone interview.

Submission Instructions

• Application materials must be submitted collectively (application form plus all required documents) by email to apply@enjoyliteracy.org.
• We do not accept applications through our website.
• Applications will be accepted from January 1, 2026 to March 15, 2026.

Applicant Privacy

• We respect the privacy of all applicants. You may redact any sensitive information from your application materials at the time of application.

Scholarship Funds

• Scholarship recipients will be notified beginning May 1, 2026.
• Recipients must submit to the foundation an official invoice from their college bursar’s office. Funds will be sent directly from the foundation to the bursar’s office to be credited to the recipient’s account.
